  1. Acne Treatment : La Roche Posay Effaclar K review

    August 31, 2011 by donnaalba19

    My Rating:

La Roche-Posay Effaclar K Acne Treatment Fluidis a good product, but I don’t think it was made for me.

Before I purchased this I read some fantastic reviews , so I was impressed and I thought to myself I will most surely  incorporate this into my acne treatment system.

The first 4 days of use were really successful: it cleared my pores and made my skin look healthier. Also, the oiliness of my T-zone visibly decreased and it did help me get rid of some acne scars.
Effaclar K has a very light and smooth texture, easy to spread especially at night after cleansing. Because it contains thermal water,  It gives the skin a healthy glow.

However, in regards to the actual acne, I didn’t see too many changes.Every skin is different in one way or another, and we all build a skin care regime, and we try as much as possible to stick to the routine.  I have a dry skin that gets oily around my T zone. In addition, I have numerous pustules especially during that time of the month , and I also struggle with the occasional blackheads & whiteheads.

I don’t find this product totally useless, but it’s simply just not strong enough for me. It didn’t keep my acne under control. I would still have the same horrible breakouts around my chin, and I ultimately had to reach for a more concentrated product like Tretinoin Cream or Brevoxyl .

After using it for about a  month, I can conclude that is great for acne prone, sensitive skin that doesn’t have too many serious problems. It could be indeed an excellent product if you have mild to moderate acne; if you have a more severe form of acne you would probably need a more powerful product.

At 12 euros, the packaging is not great and i don’t fancy the metal tube. Repurchase? Maybe in the future when my skin clears out a bit.

  2. Enhanced Lashes: Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

    My Rating:

By far, the best mascara i have ever  used!. It is the only one  I have purchased time and time again. When I buy a mascara, I really don’t care how super sleek the packaging is. I just need it to work. It really comes down to  basic time constraint . When you get up at 7 am and you have a hectic day ahead, there’s really no time to get ready properly. I usually have about 10-15 min to apply a foundation, blusher, liquid eyeliner & mascara. And here, this mascara what I need to spark up those morning eyes.

I genuinely think that the most important element of makeup in any woman’s life is mascara -followed by foundation and lipstick :)

The formula of this product is great: It allows you to build up your lashes from a day-to-day/ natural look to a more defined/ thick lashes. It rarely clumps and is able to last a long warmy weather without smudging. If your lashes are short and straight, I recommend you try this out.

*Sorry for the horrific pics, snap shots from my laptop’s webcam*

This product volumizes and lengthens without leaving any marks under the eye . I have received numerous compliments from girls, that were absolutely convinced I had some fake lashes put on:). Now,I don’t consider myself an expert on mascara, and I didn’t try all the brands out there, BUT  honestly this is ,hands down, the best one I’ve ever tried.

    Repurchase? Hell yeah.

  3. Summer beauty tip: Guerlain Tinted Moisturizer

    My Rating:

I’ve only heard good things about Guerlain: high quality products with a luxurious texture and  a good value for the money you are paying.

    Naturally, I wanted to try something out, so I decided to purchase a foundation. I’m definitely one of those girl who are constantly looking for the perfect foundation, so when  I’m ready to splurge on some make up items, is usually the foundation;

I went to Sephora last winter looking to buy a sheer foundation, one that would allow my pores to breathe. I ended up buying this product. And thank god i did!

To be fair, I was a little bit worried at first. I tried it on but it looked a bit fake and dark. The color didn’t match my skin tone so I figured out i will do like the make up artist, and blend this mismatch color for the perfect one. Needless to say this product is just for the summer time, at least for me. With a natural tan and a small dub of this, I look  fresh and healthy. And that’s all I care for.

The application is somewhat sheer– I would say about one-half the coverage of a normal foundation .  This allows a bit of your natural skin to peek through.  It lasts well through a day.

What I usually do, is apply the tinted moisturizer and then spray a little bit of Evian Mineral Water . It tones down a bit of the shimmer, and it looks more natural/healthy, plus its barely detectable on the face.Overall an excellent product well worth the price (40 euros).
