  1. Review:Zineryt lotion

    September 3, 2011 by donnaalba19

    My Rating:

It was first recommended to me by my dermatologist, a year ago. I was reluctant to start using it, mostly because of the smell: it contains zinc and ethanol ( used as a disinfectant), so you can strongly feel the alcohol base. First time using it, my skin was harshly dried and i experienced some burning sensation. In some way, I guess it’s a natural reaction from the skin: being introduced to new chemicals it is bound to react . I was able to cope with all this and continue using the product.

Despite my initial reservation, after a week of use, my skin started to show improvements: my pimples dried out and eventually scrubbed off. It made my acne literally disappear.  Like any other acne treatment, Zineryt cannot be used by himself, so I had to incorporate some additional items:

    • – Moisturizer. Vital. This will counteract the dryness of the product ( I use La Roche-Posay Nutritic orEmbryolisse )
    • -Sunscreen. With a SPF above 20 every day, including the wintertime. Acnee products in general make your  skin even more  sensitive to the sun so I use Garnier Ambre Solaire or La Roche-Posay Anthelios ( they also reduces the risk of skin cancer )
    • -a recovery/ rejuvation treatment. Only if your aiming for a flawless skin. Zynerit  didn’t act upon my acne scars and it did left behind some red marks. I had to use Avene Diacneal Skincare lotionto help diminish the acne scars, and revitalize a little bit the surface.
    • – an alternative product. The thing is my skin began to get used to it after a while so I had to alternate with a similar product. I used Zineryt one night and switched the next day to Brevoxyl , Benzoyl Peroxide

The product has a short self-life: It has been advised to be used in the first 2 weeks after mixing the powder and the alcohol. Nonetheless, my doctor assured me It’s safe well after the 2 weeks trial.  All in all, its a pretty good product that works extremely well in conjunction with other skincare items.

  2. Acne Treatment : La Roche Posay Effaclar K review

    August 31, 2011 by donnaalba19

    My Rating:

La Roche-Posay Effaclar K Acne Treatment Fluidis a good product, but I don’t think it was made for me.

Before I purchased this I read some fantastic reviews , so I was impressed and I thought to myself I will most surely  incorporate this into my acne treatment system.

The first 4 days of use were really successful: it cleared my pores and made my skin look healthier. Also, the oiliness of my T-zone visibly decreased and it did help me get rid of some acne scars.
Effaclar K has a very light and smooth texture, easy to spread especially at night after cleansing. Because it contains thermal water,  It gives the skin a healthy glow.

However, in regards to the actual acne, I didn’t see too many changes.Every skin is different in one way or another, and we all build a skin care regime, and we try as much as possible to stick to the routine.  I have a dry skin that gets oily around my T zone. In addition, I have numerous pustules especially during that time of the month , and I also struggle with the occasional blackheads & whiteheads.

I don’t find this product totally useless, but it’s simply just not strong enough for me. It didn’t keep my acne under control. I would still have the same horrible breakouts around my chin, and I ultimately had to reach for a more concentrated product like Tretinoin Cream or Brevoxyl .

After using it for about a  month, I can conclude that is great for acne prone, sensitive skin that doesn’t have too many serious problems. It could be indeed an excellent product if you have mild to moderate acne; if you have a more severe form of acne you would probably need a more powerful product.

At 12 euros, the packaging is not great and i don’t fancy the metal tube. Repurchase? Maybe in the future when my skin clears out a bit.

  3. Embryolisse-crème hydratante à l’orange

    My Rating:

Im sure that you all heard it before, so it should come as no surprise to anyone here: Embryolisse creme is one of the best moisturizer on the market and one of  most amazing, best kept secrets in the makeup industry. A Makeup Artist’s Secret Weapon and a product so very hard to find…..unless you are living in France 🙂

This brand is famous for its Lait creme concentre , a  moisturizer that comes in a metal tube and has such a thick texture that absorbes quickly into the skin . Now, to my misfortune, i couldn’t find this at a drugstore in France, but the lady at the counter recommended another great moisturizer from the same brand: Creme hydratante a l’orange (Moisturizing Cream with Extract of Oranges).  Its basically a vitamin rich moisturizer, designed to combat dry skin and give an overall soft effect.

Like i mentioned before I have dry skin in the winter and in the summertime its pretty normal, with a slightly shiney T-zone. Nevertheless, its pretty sensitive and acne-prone.  I use this every morning/night both as a moisturizer and an eye-cream. Its hands down, one of the best moisturizer i have ever tried. Quickly, its becoming my Holy-grail product ( well, until i try the other famous one :p).

Its actually quite a light formulation with the effects of a rich heavy moisturizer ; it sinks in to my skin really fast and it has not broken me out or anything. This product has a lovely scent and lives my skin really soft in the morning and throughout the day. What I honestly feel when I apply this, its an instant re-hydration of my skin.

I use it as a primer as well.  No spf, but other than that , no downsides . Its a little bit  pricey ( 19 euros) but seriously, I cannot praise it enough. Definitely going to repurchase this in the future!
